If you have a heart and love for women and would like to be a part of the Journey of Hope mentoring program; or if you would like to learn more about Journey of Hope and how you could participate, please contact us at  [865] 816-3403. You are just a phone call away from developing life long relationships/friendships with women who need a Hand UP and not a hand out.

Read: Titus 2:3-5, Exdous 4:7-13, Psalm 145:4

Step 1 is to attend a Mentor Training session.

Step 2 is to fill out a Mentor Application form. You can fill out a paper application and mail it to:
Journey of Hope / CWJC of Loudon County, P.O. Box 338, Lenoir City, TN 37771.

Step 3 is a one-on-one interview with the Site Coordinator, so that she can get to know you better. The better she knows your story, the easier it is for her to match you with the right merea. All information is kept confidential.

You may be asked to attend a “mixer” with all unmatched mentors and mereas in attendance. This gives everyone a chance to meet and see if any natural matches begin to occur.

We will contact you with the name and phone number of a potential merea. Give her a call to chat a bit and set up an initial meeting. This can take place at the site, or maybe you could meet somewhere for coffee, etc…

Let us know how this meeting goes!  If all goes well, we will meet with you and the merea to draw up an initial covenant that will be in effect for 90 days. Covenants are written contracts that outline the boundaries of the relationship, the goals the merea has for herself, and how the mentor will assist her with them. If the relationship is going well, this covenant will be continued on past the 90 days. If not, both parties will be reassigned. (This has yet to happen…don’t worry.)

Mentors are asked to meet face-to-face with their mereas once week, but no more than two weeks should lapse between meetings. Other contacts can be made by phone or e-mail.

Time spent with your merea does not have to be an event! Incorporate them into your life like any other friend…go walking or shopping together, go see a movie or a play, invite them to go to your child’s (or grandchild’s) ballgames or school events, attend one of their classes here with them, take them with you to get groceries, or invite them to lunch or dinner out, or at your home. One great idea is to invite them to go to church with you…especially if they don’t have a church home. You could also do a Bible study together.

You are asked to attend Journey of Hope programs such as graduations or holiday get-togethers in order to show your support for your merea.

Let us know what you need! We have a wealth of information on area resources that may be helpful to your merea.

Above all…PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. BELIEVE IN YOUR MEREA UNTIL SHE CAN BELIEVE IN HERSELF!!!
