Frequently Asked Questions

Who can come to the program?  Any woman over the age of 18 who is ready to commit to regular attendance and working toward becoming self-sufficient.

Do you have to be a Christian or a Baptist to come?   No, but you must understand that participating in our Bible Study is part of the program.

Does everyone who comes get a mentor?  Every woman who demonstrates her commitment to the program is paired with a trained mentor.

What does a mentor do? The knowledge, advise and resources a mentor shares depends on the format and the goals of each unique mentoring relationship. A mentor may share information about her own career path, as well as, provide guidance, motiviation, emotional support and role modeling. A mentor may help with exploring careers, setting goals, developing contacts, and identify resources. The mentor role may change as the the JOH particpant continues on her journey. 

What kind of classes do you teach?  We currently offer weekly Jobs for Life®, Life Skills and Bible study.

Do you offer computer classes?  We have tutors who sit down with you and give one-to-one computer instruction. We can then refer you to a class when you are comfortable enough with your skills to learn in a classroom setting.

How long is the program?  The program is on-going.

Will you find me a job?  We are not a job referral service or an employment agency. Our focus is to strengthen your life as a whole so that you are better equipped and prepared to seek out and find employment. We can help with referrals, but we cannot get the job for you.

Do I have to come every week?  In order to graduate from our program, you must have at least an 80% attendance rate.

Where is the program held?  At Calvary Baptist Church Annex, 300 West 1st Avenue in Lenoir City.

Do you help with transportation?  If you have a car, we can assist you with $25.00 a month fuel assistance, IF you are attending regularly.
